Importing NSIDC Passive Microwave EASE-Grid Data into ArcInfo
This document describes how to import Passive Microwave EASE-Grid data into ArcGIS.
The tables on this page provide links to geolocation tools for geolocating EASE-Grid data sets available at NSIDC. These tools include map projection parameters(.mpp files), grid parameter definitions(.gpd files), latitude/longitude binary files, and conversion software such as C, FORTRAN, and IDL (Interactive Data Language). However, some of the tar files listed in these tables only contain look-up files and .gpd and .mpp descriptions for the respective grid. There is no special latitude/longitude to column/row conversion software for these data sets. The look-up files contain arrays with the latitude and longitude at the center of each grid cell. Users who want software to perform the conversion for any location, not just the center of each cell, should obtain the Map Transformations Library (Mapx) software.
